FAQs
Common questions about Medicare-funded Exercise Physiology
What is the Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP)?
The CDMP is a Medicare-funded program that enables people with long-term health conditions (present for 6+ months) to access allied health services like Exercise Physiology. Your GP assesses your eligibility and provides the referral.
How many sessions can I access through Medicare?
You can access up to 5 Medicare-subsidised allied health sessions per calendar year under the CDMP. These sessions are shared across all allied health providers (e.g., if you see a physiotherapist and exercise physiologist, the 5 sessions are split between them).
What conditions qualify for Medicare-funded Exercise Physiology?
Chronic conditions present for 6+ months including diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, chronic pain, obesity, osteoporosis, depression/anxiety, COPD, cancer, and other long-standing health concerns. Your GP will determine eligibility.
Can I access Medicare rebates for Exercise Physiology?
Yes, Medicare covers a portion of the session cost through the CDMP rebate. A gap fee applies for the remainder. Contact us to discuss current fees and Medicare rebates.
How does Exercise Physiology work for chronic conditions?
Exercise Physiology utilises exercise as medicine to help manage chronic health conditions. Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists create individualised, evidence-based programs to improve your strength, mobility, pain levels, and overall quality of life while working with your healthcare team.

Chris - Olivia's Client
From our very first consultation, Olivia demonstrated a deep understanding of exercise physiology, tailoring a personalised program that addressed my specific needs and goals. Her expertise was evident as she explained the science behind each exercise, making me feel not just physically engaged but also mentally connected to my fitness program.

Irene - Nadunie's Client
I am incredibly grateful for the expertise and personal care provided by Nadunie and the rest of the team. Their tailored strength and weight loss training program, designed specifically for managing my pre-diabetes and menopausal issues, has been transformative. Lily - Quinton's Client
After working with Quinton for three months, I have been pleasantly surprised at what this discipline can deliver! I certainly wasn't expecting early or quick improvements. Quinton always checks to see how my energy levels are coping and if a short break is needed. Our 'face-to-face' sessions are varied, educational and entertaining, at times challenging but never boring.
Ben De Jong - Anthony's Client
Anthony Lieu has become known to me as an affable young man. I admire his skills and competence in treating my wife for about three months, several times weekly. She has shown considerable progress, and she responds well to his skill and encouragement. I recommend him as a Professional Exercise Physiologist.
Kristy - Aislinn's Client
Activate is a friendly and welcoming community. Both the trainers and other clients are supportive and encouraging of each other. All the staff are well trained, professional and passionate about what they do. I have been training with Aislinn for a few months now, and she creates a fun and enjoyable program. She gets the best out of me during my sessions (even on those early mornings).
